Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 18, 2026
WatchCheck helps you evaluate a used watch listing before you buy it. This page explains, plainly, what information the app collects, how it's used, who else sees it, and how you can delete it whenever you want.
Information we collect
Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address. If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple gives us an email address, which may be a private relay address that forwards to you. Your password is never seen or stored by WatchCheck in readable form. It's handled by our authentication provider, which stores it in encrypted, hashed form.
Content you provide. When you add a listing, we store what you enter about it (title, description, price, and a source link if you include one) along with any photos you add of the watch. This includes photos you take with your camera inside the app when you choose to.
AI-generated information. When you request an AI insight, valuation or offer evaluation, we generate and store a written assessment and a set of scores based on the details and photos you provided.
Subscription and usage information. If you subscribe to WatchCheck Pro, the purchase is handled by Apple. We receive whether your subscription is active, but not your payment card or Apple ID details. We also keep a count of how many scans your account has used each month so that plan limits apply.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account, and let you sign back in.
- To store your listings and photos so you can view your history across sessions.
- To generate the AI insights, valuations and offer evaluations you request. This involves sending your listing's photos and details to our AI provider for analysis.
- To confirm your subscription and apply the right plan limits.
- To respond when you contact support.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell your information to anyone.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run WatchCheck. We don't share your information with anyone beyond what's needed for the app to function:
We may also disclose information if required to by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of WatchCheck or our users.
On your device
- Camera and photo library. The app asks for access only so you can add a photo to a check. We only receive the photos you choose.
- Face ID lock. If you turn on the optional lock, your phone's operating system handles Face ID or your passcode. WatchCheck never receives your biometric data.
- Preferences. Settings such as the Face ID lock and haptics are stored on your device.
Storage and security
- All data is encrypted in transit between the app and our servers.
- Your listings, photos, and AI insights are protected by database-level access rules that restrict them to your account alone.
- Uploaded photos are kept in private storage, not publicly accessible by a shared link.
Retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You're in control of it at all times:
- You can delete an individual listing, along with its photos and AI insights, at any time from within the app.
- You can download your data as a spreadsheet file from Profile, Settings, then Export my data.
- You can permanently delete your entire account from Profile, Settings, then Delete account. This permanently removes your account, every listing, every photo, and every AI insight from our systems. This cannot be undone.
Children's privacy
WatchCheck is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of WatchCheck after a change means you accept the updated policy.
